Gospel of John Study begins today! – Week 1 – John Introduction and Chapter 1

Yay! The day is finally here! We begin our study of the Gospel of John. I am so excited, since this is the book that got me hooked on bible study. It was the first book of the bible that I studied and the first one for this group almost eleven years ago.

For this week, please read the Introduction to the Gospel of John in the study guide. In addition, please read chapter 1, read the corresponding notes to that chapter, and answer the questions. (FYI – the answers to the Questions for Understanding are typically located in the bible notes below the bible verses. Therefore, we will only discuss the Questions for Application.)

I hope everyone is an excited as I am and that everyone truly enjoys this study.

Have a blessed week!

Summer Break Time

We’re officially on break from our studies for now. However, we have this GREAT opportunity….I am excited to announce that St. Athanasius Church now has access to premium video content from Word on Fire! You should have received an email from me on Friday, May 28th regarding this. If you did not, please let me know.

Thanks to Flocknote, our parish’s email and texting tool, we can now send you short Bishop Barron videos with engaging questions via email or text message or videos from Formed.org or other sources. Starting this summer, I hope to utilize this format to help keep our group connected and to nourish our faith development and knowledge. I encourage you to participate in our group discussions as together we draw deeper into the Faith.

Once you have had a chance to look at what is available, please let me know if any of the studies interest you. We could choose one to do over this summer to test out this online format. I can’t wait to hear what you all this about this! Please give me your feedback. Thank you and God Bless!

Week 5 – Daniel Chapters 9 & 10

We are over halfway through our study of the Book of Daniel. This week, please read, study, and discuss chapters 9 and 10. Might I also suggest that, if you have the time, check out Bishop Robert Barron’s approximately 9 minute video discussing the visions in Daniel. It goes very well with the two chapters we studied last week, as well as chapter 9 this week. Here is a link to the YouTube video: https://www.wordonfire.org/resources/video/bishop-barron-on-the-book-of-daniel/5012/

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you that are mothers, either biologically or spiritually.
