Week 1 – Revelation Introduction and Chapter 1

Is everyone ready to begin our study of the Revelation to Saint John! I’m so excited for everyone to start and to read your comments and thoughts as we journey through this apocrypha book.

For this week, I would like everyone to become familiar with the Book of Revelation by reading the Introduction for it in the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible (i.e. your study guide). In it, you will learn about the Author, Date it was written, the Literary Background, and the Interpretive Views. To be clear, I am referring to the Introduction for Revelation, not the one for the Letters to John (for those who purchased the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible for the first, second, and third letters to John and Revelation).

In addition to reading the Introduction, please also read chapter one and the corresponding notes. Furthermore, I’d love to hear from everyone on the Private Chat Room for our group on Facebook. Please go there to input your answers to the study questions and any other comments that you may have.

There is a wealth of additional material on the internet and in other books regarding the Book of Revelation. So, feel free to use those as well (please make sure they are in communion with Catholic teaching) and add any thoughts or information you would like to share regarding this on our private chat room page.

For those of you who have Michael Barber’s book entitled “Coming Soon: Unlocking the Book of Revelation and Applying Its Lessons Today,” I suggest you read the first four chapters. Within these chapters, it covers an introduction to the Book of Revelation and its first chapter. Feel free to share your thoughts about any of this as well with the group on our chat room page.

If you are not a member of our private chat room on Facebook, but would like to be, please contact me.

Happy New Year and best wishes for a wonderful study.

Life Giving Bread – Next Bible Study begins January 3, 2021

Thank you to everyone who participated in our study on the Book of Joshua. I hope everyone enjoyed it and got a lot out of it like I did. I appreciate all of your determination to continue studying the bible and hope everyone returns in January for our next topic.

Our group’s next study will be on the Book of Revelation. As usual, we will be using the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. I had originally intended to make it a 22-week study. However, after currently studying it with another group, I’ve decided to make it a 12-week study, studying 2 chapters per week, as we normally do. Ignatius Catholic Study Bible: The First, Second and Third letters of St. John and the Revelation to John by Scott Hahn & Curtis Mitch is sold on Amazon for about $12.

One suggestion that I would like to make regarding this next study is that everyone consider purchasing the book “Coming Soon: Unlocking the Book of Revelation and Applying Its Lessons Today” by Michael Barber. I am using this book in my current study of Revelation and it is making learning about the apocalypse much easier. By using this book along with the “Ignatius Catholic Study Bible: The First, Second, and Third Letters of St. John and the Revelation to John,” I think we all will get a very good appreciation of this last book of the Bible. Amazon sells this book for about $20. It is just a suggestion, however. It is optional and it is not necessary to purchase this book to participate in our study of the Book of Revelation.

Contact me to join the Life Giving Bread’s chat room, if you have any questions regarding this group, or if you would like help getting started.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Week 10 – Joshua Chapters 21 & 22

Happy All Saints Day! Who is your favorite saint? Were you named after a saint and/or have one chosen as your Confirmation Saint? If so, please take the time today to pray to that saint.

We have just two weeks left of our study of the Book of Joshua. Then, we will take a break until January 2021. At that time, we will then begin our study of the Book of Revelation. More information regarding that study is coming soon.

For this week, please study and discuss Joshua chapters 21 and 22.

Have a blessed week!

Week 8 – Joshua Chapters 15, 16, & 17

A little change to the study schedule. Due to how the study questions are combined in our study guide, instead of studying two chapters this week and next, we will read three chapters each week. For this week, please read chapters 15, 16, and 17 of the Book of Joshua and the notes for these chapters. Then, answer the corresponding questions for understanding and questions for application. Discussions will take place on the group’s private Facebook chat room page.

Have a blessed week!

Week 7 – Joshua Chapters 13 & 14

We are already halfway through our study of the Book of Joshua. If we continue according to the Schedule, we will be finished before Thanksgiving. For this week, we will study and discuss chapters 13 and 14.

I hope everyone is enjoying this study as much as I am!

If you are not already a member of the private chat room group, please contact me to be added so that you can participate in discussions regarding our study.

May God bless you in many ways and be in your heart always.
