Week 12

Read Luke 19:28-21:38 (The Jerusalem Ministry)

Theme: Schism motif – The people accept Jesus.  They rejoice as he descends the Mount of Olives.  However, the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders rejected Jesus.

Questions:

  1. Would you think that Jesus would be happy with your church (your place of worship) if he were to walk in?  Why or why not? (19:45-48)
  2. In regards to Jesus’ warning of the scribes (20:45-47), are there people like these scribes today?
  3. The signs of the end of time that Jesus gives sound familiar to occurrences today and throughout history.  What does this tell you?  How should you prepare for the end of time? (21:7-11; 21:25-36)

I typically try to live each day like it is my last. For instance, I try to ensure that my family knows that I love them. However, with all the day-to-day tasks, I must confess that I do forget to take time everyday to do a self-check to ensure that I am living my life according to God’s will. To prepare for the end of time, I think I need to take this self-check on a regular basis.
