Read Luke 22:1-23:56 (The Passion of Jesus)
Theme: Schism motif – The division between those who follow Christ and those who do not. For example, 23:27 and 23:39-42.
Theme: A Reversal of Things – During the Passover meal, Jesus tells his disciples to “let the greatest among you be as the youngest and the leader as the servant” (22:26).
Theme: Good versus Evil – Jesus versus Satan. Jesus overcomes Satan by giving us hope for the future Kingdom of God.

- What verse(s) stood out to you and why?
- Where is Satan’s presence shown in this week’s readings?
- What effect does Jesus’ Passion have on you? What can we learn from Jesus’ actions/words throughout his Passion?
- Can you relate to any of the people mentioned in this week’s readings or can you compare any of these people to people in today’s society?

Have any of you seen the movie “The Passion of the Christ”? When I think about question #2 above, I think about the children whose faces were transformed into devil-like creatures around Judas, after he betrayed Jesus. Yikes!
