Study Reminder – Jude – Week 9

In this week’s reading, we are once again told to beware of false prophets. As we read this week in the Letter of Saint Jude, believers must “fight for the true faith against an incoming hoard of deceivers.” (Ignatius Catholic Study Bible, Introduction to the Letter of Saint Jude).

Please read the introduction and the Letter of Saint Jude.  In addition, please answer the corresponding study guide questions. Feel free to share your thoughts or questions regarding the readings by posting your comments on the Week 8 page under James, 1&2 Peter, Jude or on the LGB Facebook page.

This week concludes our current study (James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, and Jude). Stay tuned for information regarding our next study.

Study Reminder – 2 Peter – Week 8

All Christian denominations are the same, right? Does it really matter what I read and who I listen to if it is all praising God? Actually, it does matter. As we read in chapters 2 and 3 from the Second Letter of Peter, false information can lead us away from God. There are people out there who may think that they know the truth, but who are not truly knowledgeable. Also, there are people who lead others astray as they purposefully work on their own agenda, albeit greed, selfishness, etc. Therefore, please pay attention on where you obtain religious information. Just because it (or they) is “Christian” does not mean it is in accordance with the Catholic Church, founded by Jesus Christ.

Please read Chapters 2 and 3 (2 Peter 2:1-3:18).  In addition, please answer the corresponding study guide questions. Feel free to share your thoughts or questions regarding the readings by posting your comments on the Week 8 page under James, 1&2 Peter, Jude or on the LGB Facebook page.

Study Reminder – 2 Peter – Week 7

We read about the stories of the saints. Some lived heroic lives, under great persecution and suffering. You can read about many of them who were martyred and/or tortured. However, this is not the only way to become holy. We are all called to holiness. As we read in the first chapter of the Second Letter of Saint Peter, the Holy Spirit provides us with everything that we need to become holy. It is our job to utilize these gifts and to build upon our faith to the point that we have complete love for all mankind. This steadfast love will cause you to do the work God intends of you, and it will help keep you from sin. Then, you too, can be counted as one of the numerous saints . . . you too will be holy.

Please read the Introduction to The Second Letter of Saint Peter, as well as, the first chapter of Second Peter.  In addition, please answer the corresponding study guide questions. Feel free to share your thoughts or questions regarding the readings by posting your comments on the Week 7 page under James, 1&2 Peter, Jude or on the LGB Facebook page.

Study Reminder – 1 Peter – Week 6

It is all too clear from the news stories lately, Christians are persecuted throughout the world, even here in the United States. In our readings this week, Saint Peter tells us that this persecution can be caused by how we Christians live our lives. Others persecute us for living a moral life which is inconsistent with their immoral ones. This persecution can cause suffering for Christians. However, we can use this experience as a remembrance of Christ’s suffering for us. Continue to live a moral life, despite any sufferings you may have. Give your worries to God to allow yourself to live in peace and contentment knowing that your sufferings will lead you to eternal life with God.

Please read chapters 4 and 5 and answer the corresponding study guide questions. Feel free to share your thoughts or questions regarding the readings by posting your comments on the Week 6 page under James, 1&2 Peter, Jude or on the LGB Facebook page.

Study Reminder – 1 Peter – Week 5

In our readings this week, Peter reminds us that what we do has a big impact on others. We are Children of God and should live as such. We are to live our lives so as to be examples of Christ on earth. As a result, we not only strengthen our relationship with God, but moreover, we can hopefully also influence others to have a better relationship with Him as well.

Please read chapters 2 and 3 and answer the corresponding study guide questions. Feel free to share your thoughts or questions regarding the readings by posting your comments on the Week 5 page under James, 1&2 Peter, Jude or on the LGB Facebook page.
